Participating in C-PIP

C-PIP is recruiting eligible participants,
to come to one of our hospitals,
once per year, over 3 years.

During your visits, we will collect:

Behavioural questions

Brain
images

Cognitive assessments

Genetic
material

Behavioural questions

Includes:

  • standardized questionnaires

  • age-appropriate

  • evaluation of child’s behavioural development

Brain
images

Includes:

  • using an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) to take a picture of the brain

  • an MRI iuses a magnetic field and radio waves to produce images of internal bodily structures, like the brain

  • safe and non-invasive
    (does
    not require injections, dyes or radiation)

What exactly does an MRI entail?

Cognitive
assessments

Includes:

  • standardized tests

  • age-appropriate

  • evaluation of child’s cognitive development

Genetic
material

Includes:

  • a saliva test - which is exactly as it sounds!

  • a test tube is provided and the participant is asked to spit saliva into the tube

  • the tube of saliva is then analyzed for specific genetic markers
